    The Dominican Republic allows couples to get married upon arrival as does Las Vegas, the Cayman Islands, Jamaica, St. Luca, and Costa Rica.

    While some countries, such as China require at least one spouse must live in the country.

    Countries such as Cuba, France, Mexico and St. Martin require you arrive several days before getting married.

    Most couples will legally marry within their home country and have weddings abroad.

  • It depends on what resort you choose. The most popular location for a destination wedding ceremony is on the beach. Though, many resorts offer locations in their gardens, gazebos, on their piers, or around their pools. Some resorts have rooftop venues that overlook the resort and the beach. Other resorts have their wedding chapel or church. There are even resorts that offer couples their private islands to be married on.

  • The most popular resorts include El Dorado Seaside Suites, Secrets Capri, Dreams Riviera Cancun, Secrets St. James in Jamaica, Beaches Negril, Dreams Palm Beach Punta Cana, and The Hard Rock resort in Cancun.

  • No. Your Fernweh Luxury Travel advisor will collaborate with you and the hotel’s wedding coordinator to plan your wedding day. Your Fernweh Travel Advisor will also coordinate the travel arrangements for you and your guests, as well as activities for the days before and after the wedding. The hotel wedding coordinator will help you with everything from selecting your menu, a ceremony location, flower arrangements, decor, and cakes.

  • Yes, your Fernweh Luxury Travel Advisor can schedule all individual appointments, such as spa appointments for hair and makeup for your wedding day. Your advisor can coordinate group activities, private sailing trips, golfing, adventure zip-lining, spa reservations, and so much more.

  • Yes, we can plan any event you have in mind, the cost for events is typically less than at home.

    Your Advisor can arrange your dream of arrival at your reception. A pool party with a DJ and lighting or fireworks and bonfire on the beach. We can help you customize the menu, hire a photographer, and arrange special orders, decorations, and transportation.

  • We recommend planning your Destination Wedding at least 12 to 18 months before your chosen wedding date. However, it is possible to plan with a shorter lead-in time, but this may narrow down which destinations are available to you. Some countries do require advance applications to be married. Contact your Fernweh Luxury Travel Advisor for their recommendations.

  • The best way to get your wedding gown to your destination is to carry your bridal gown on the plane. Most bridal shops will assist in packing your wedding gown to be brought on the plane as a carry-on. Once you arrive, your Wedding Planner at the resort will meet you and ensure your wedding gown is steamed and looks pristine for the big day. We do not recommend shipping your wedding gown to the resort, as it could get lost or damaged.
